- Independent State Member for Lake Macquarie and former mayor of Lake Macquarie 2004-2012. Most of my working life has been as a Public Servant having nursed at Morisset Hospital for some 24 years over a 27 year period. This was good honest work where I made many lifelong friends and came to be more understanding of the situations that people find themselves in from time to time. Elected to Council in 1991 and served continuously to date, having been elected Mayor in 2004 and again in 2008. I reluctantly stood for state parliament in 2007. Hoping to marginalise a strong Labor seat, I achieved that with a narrow win of only 106 votes out of some 47,000. I now hold the second most marginal seat in NSW. For all my busy life and all the interesting people I meet, spending time with my grandchildren is the the thing I most look forward to.
